One of my favorite parts about my wedding photography experience is being able to plan your engagement session and truly get to know each other before getting to the wedding day! Engagement sessions are one of the best parts of this season of your life together because it’s a stress-free day where you get to be totally in love with each other and create beautiful memories in the form of photos!
Engagement sessions DO NOT have to be super formal, planned out, and designed a specific way. My goal is to make your engagement session unique to your relationship as a couple! Let’s go to your favorite spots, not some random spot you saw on TikTok that looks pretty. Let’s wear clothes that you normally would wear together, and let’s do something fun that will overall make the experience more comfortable and fun for y’all!!
Here are just a few of my recent favorite spots!! But like I said before, I’m down to head to your first date spot or the park where you walk together every day! Remember to make your engagement session about YOU because, in the end, this will mean more than just going to a pretty place to take pretty pictures!
Nestled in the mountains of Dahlonega, GA, Montaluce Winery has always been a popular spot for engagements, proposals, and weddings! This is a tried and true gorgeous location with different views and perfect lighting! The vines tend to be in bloom starting at the end of April until harvest in August, and finally lose their leaves at the end of November. My favorite time of year at any vineyard is in the fall because the leaves are all different shades of gold, orange, yellow, and red! The perfect fall backdrop, plus there’s wine 🍷😊

Here’s a mix of digital and 35 mm film from Molly & Callen’s morning session at Montaluce Winery from November!

This second location is one that a couple introduced to me a few years ago for their engagement session! I had no idea that this gorgeous, massive park was only about 45 minutes away from me. Since then, I have been back a few times for our sessions! The park is filled with rolling hills of grass, walking trails, a pond, various bridges and outlook points! Definitely a favorite in the fall with all the gorgeous leaves, but it could also be the perfect spot for a spring/summer picnic!
This park is also a dog friendly location, and I think it’s ALWAYS a good idea to bring your pups along! Because they deserve to be a part of your love story too 🙂

Now, I’m switching it up to a more urban, modern vibe that can still be beautiful and fun to include in your engagement session! A spot that I’m sure you have visited for brunch or a late-night adventure, there are TOO MANY cute spots around this town for pictures. My favorite hidden spot is down below the city hall, which is a gorgeous green space with brick surroundings. It’s also the perfect spot to grab a glass of wine or cocktail to start the session and get some of the nerves out of the way! Alpharetta is also a central area to plenty of other locations that could easily be a second location or vibe for your session!

OH MY! This location literally has me on my knees begging to go back (minus the 2.5-hour drive…..) I was able to venture out to Berry College with a couple last fall for the first time, and it still lives rent-free in my mind! This spot is absolutely gorgeous. With the gothic-style cobblestone buildings and rolling pastures of open land, this location has the best of both worlds! Whether you are looking for something a little bit more formal or you just want to run around in a long sundress, this is the perfect spot!

Here is the last spot of this short list (because honestly, I could make recommendations all day long!)! This spot was actually a back-up plan one day for my couple because it was originally supposed to thunderstorm during their session! I was a little hesitant at first because I had only visited the winery part of Chateau Elan and not the indoor atrium. As soon as we entered the atrium, all of my worries ceased to exist! This was the most natural light, marble-filled area that was perfect for a more formal style session. Definitely a favorite option whether it’s raining or not outside!
After capturing all the vogue, romantic, modern vibes inside the atrium, it wasn’t raining, so we decided to switch up the vibes and go run around in the vineyard! There is so much more that this location has to offer too! There’s a beautiful hidden pond with a gazebo, more rolling hills of grapes, and just beautiful outside views! (Those spots will be for my next visit 😉)
*Please note this location does require a reservation and photographer fee!
